Established in 1989 Education Workers and Amalgamated Union Osaka, EWA, has organized multinational teachers and education staff from kindergarten to university in both public and private. Non-regular employees have also joined us as well as regular employees. EWA is regarded as a hybrid union because union members are covered by Local Public Service Act and Trade Union Law respectively.
For three decades hundreds non-Japanese teachers have enjoyed union membership and more than fifty members are still active now.
EWA aims high salary, better working conditions, workers solidarity, no discrimination, anti-war and global grassroots solidarity.
